Moulin Rouge

So, we have this CD case that has been kicking around the family room for years, no kidding, years.  And it's been YEARS since we've had a CD player in the house so this big clunky case just gets moved around with the video game/dvd cases.  Alternately, we are constantly complaining that our tahoe doesn't have an auxiliary plug and we don't have any good CDs.  hmmmm, well genius me finally put two and two together and took the big clunky CD case to the car so we could listen to all of our old school CD music on our old school CD player in the car.  HA!

Anyway, among the aerosmiths and van morrisons i found the soundtrack to moulin rouge. Oh, and sophie found her Aaron Carter CD that she had on constant rotation during the 5th grade.  How i beat, shaq, anyone?

I put the moulin rouge cd in and, no joke, it's like i was transported into that movie.  I LOVE , love those songs and that movie so much! I was trying to sing my guts out yesterday while driving owen and the little kids home from bart and robyn's house and everyone kept talking to me and owen was hating the songs (because, lets be honest, if you haven't seen the movie they are crazy obnoxious) and covering his ears and asking me to change it and i was like FREAKING OUT trying to make everybody stop because ALL I WANTED TO DO WAS SING A FREAKING DUET WITH EWAN MCGREGOR while driving home on hollywood way!!  I don't have my disc man anymore so this can only happen in the car, now just leave me to this magical place in Paris, you needy, needy KIDS!! hahaha.

seriously, it was hilarious/painful. so i gave up yesterday and took it back up today, bringing toys and snack so penny and simon would just let me sing the stupid moulin rouge songs.  and it was magical.  if doug and i got married again, i would totally play the Come What May song for our first dance or maybe rufus wainwright could come sing Complainte de la Butte for us. yes please.

ahhhh, that must have come out at a good time in my life, and i'll forever love baz lurhmann for it.

Anyway, other than little parisienne episode we have been doing ok.  simon has worn a superhero costume in place of regular clothing for almost a month now. target, the park, wherever. i ran into a friend at target while he was superman and she said people are so nice to you when your kids are dressed up that she does it all the time.  which is totally true! people are suckers for kids in costume.

Sophie is at EFY this week and having a great time, I'm assuming from her cute instagrams.

Owen is finishing up our summer days at tennis camp. two more to go and he'll be in the intermediate group wahoo!  He went up to Lukes house this afternoon and then the OC fair with a friend tomorrow.

It's so sad to me that i don't have many pics of my big kids!  They are gone a lot these days.

  1. Ummmm --- Ewan McGregor's version of "Your Song" was our wedding song (first dance - oh yeah). ;) Sung by Adam's brother, but still it was the Moulin Rouge version. So funny!! Love it. Now I have to go find that cd. I have it too.

I thought of you so much yesterday bc I wished I had texted you to come meet us at the museum. Dang! Love all your pictures. Summer's end is coming FAST.
