my mom called

Whenever i neglect the blog i hear from one of the grandmas.

Yesterday, i talked to my mom and found out she had no idea sophie's show choir, who competed in nationals in chicago last weekend, won the grand champion prize?!  top winners all around out of 13 schools in her division.  it was exciting and i immediately posted it on instagram.

Also she is going to prom today.. we found a dress on renttherunway.com and i shall never buy a gown again.  Badgley Mishcka for 135 bucks.  and she looks stunning.  will post pics when she's all dolled up

Doug directed a commercial in Kentucky a few weeks ago and it turned out AWESOME!!  it was a steep learning curve to jump into directing but he got a sweet email from the agency (or maybe it was client?) praising the shoot and how doug had delivered beyond their expectations.  It kinda reminds me of this:

Think of that graphic you've seen bouncing all over pinterest.  the one that has 2 circles. one small one that says "your comfort zone" and the much larger one far away from the comfort zone that say, "where the magic happens." 

good job imagining. 

Directing was definitely out of his comfort zone but he is in san diego this weekend directing another so i hope it makes in the the little circle sometime soon!!

GO DOUG GO!!

Owen is awesome and had to watch the puberty video this week.  When he got home he said that he had come to the scientific conclusion (after the video) that he wanted a MUSTACHE.  i love him so much.

Again, you have to imagine a bedhead blonde boy with an oversized red tshirt that one of the teachers brought as extra in case kids forgot.  well, about 40 percent of the 5th graders forgot to wear red but owen was smart enough to snag one of the extras.  oh it's so good. 

LOOK AT HIM! WHY IS HE ALWAYS LOOKING LIKE AN ORPHAN on PHOTO day??  hahahaha  he probably always looks like that but we just get caught on photo day.  :)

middle school may just kick our booties.

lastly, the littles are just funny so funny

simon is why this and why that....why about everything.  my favorite was walking next door to summers house and her dad brandon was walking in from the car.  simon saw him and said to me, why is brandon so awesome?    we all got a good chuckle over that one.

penny will graduate from maggy haves this year.  just now she was eating at the table and i had turned off the music she was dancing to so she could eat.  after a couple of bites she said, Mom, my spirit wants to dance.  what?  OH, you gotta dance when your spirit says dance.  like it was going to give her permission to dance if she quoted the song as proof or something.  also, she LOVES LOVES hot showers.  no cold/warm needed. straight up hot.
random i know but a funny tidbit i didn't want to forget

also, I've already won Dancing with the Stars tickets even though the preschool fundraiser isn't until next saturday.  they are for monday and i'm hoping sophie and her friend can go.  word is it's like a 6 hour event. I like dancing with the stars, don't get me wrong, but who needs 6 hours??
