so, it's been a few weeks...

Why aren't you on instagram? (ps this is a crazy, mad photo dump from the last month.)

Actually, i know i'll be sad that i have been lax with the blog this year because even though instagram is the bomb diggity, it isn't my family journal. it doesn't have words that i can print and honesty, the words are more important to me than the pictures sometimes.

Like will i remember that simon wore his church shirt totally one hundered percent open during sharing time and class last week?  it was a snap flannel and he would not keep it snapped so he hung out bare chested like he was at a biker bar or something.  I will LOVE that little tidbit.


Penny learned to ride her bike standing up this week.  its weird how much balance she has and she just popped up like a pro gliding down the hill in front of our house.

what sport/activity should a person do with crazy good balance? gymnastics? circus?

Owen...awesome, awesome owen is finishing 5th grade this year.  today was his 5th grade promotion and, my goodness, it was the sweetest thing i've ever seen.  they sang like 5 songs with parts. tomorrow from annie, some home song that made me cry, the wells fargo wagon from music man, sing, sing a song... from whatever that is from.

doug and i laugh because he really doesn't bring anything home with him.  we had no idea he knew any of those songs, let alone different parts to it.

He also won the Presidential Academic Award!! we were SO proud.

Sophie rocked her spring concert this year.  She turned 16 and went on her first date!!
She also got to visit our phoenix friends for her big birthday event. she went on the airplane by herself which was CRAZY hard for me to do.  i had all the kids and doug was working AND since it's just the little burbank airport i pulled up to the curb, helped her get her suitcase out and gave her lots of hugs and serious instruction for what to do if creepy dudes approach her.  she's got street smarts for sure.  it was southwest so she got to pic her seat and she said he looked for 2 ladies with an empty seat so she felt safer.  WOW it was hard but she did great and had a blast with her friends!!  Big thanks to the MEANS family for hosting her!  we love them.

A few days before sophie's birthday, doug and i celebrated our 18th anniversary. not much fanfare, doug was in San Diego and we totally meant to do something after his return but life is crazy.  I did get the cleaners to come clean my house as a present to myself.  I like that VERY much. haha

Brooke and i went to dancing with the stars!! i bought tickets from our preschool fundraiser and we were on the second row, people.  the second FREAKING row!!!  all the dancers families were all around us.  we were on screen a bunch, it was so rad.  we showed up late, i had my name on our chairs reserving the spots for us.  we even had to kick some people out when we got there because we were so VIP and they weren't.  haha.  Then we went to the Grove and ate BBQ that has never tasted so good. we were starving!

Also, every pic of me is a stupid selfie of my with my shoulder buried into my face.  oh well.

PINEWOOD DERBY!! got second on 2 of the 4 runs. Doug was out of town so he built the car ahead of time and i think it may have been compromised before the race somehow. but it looked SWEET! Owen designed it. and Baylen here won the whole thing.
