The assignment was to choose a proverb and write your own version of it. For example, The Tortoise and the Hare or don't count your chickens before they hatch etc.
Hunger is the best spice.
by Sophie Chamberlain
The boy squinted into the hot, desert sun. His eyes full of anger, tears, and sadness. His jaw clenched and his lip quivered. He hung over his parents' lifeless bodies screaming for their return. Having not eaten in weeks, his skeletal frame could support him no longer. His eyes blacked and something took over within. He sneered a nasty grimace and preceded to his dead mother. He took her hand in his then bit down angrily on her wrist. he had never tasted anything so delicious before in his entire life. Blood tricked down his chin and onto the sand. He stopped to remove a fingernail from his tooth. He licked bones, blog and strings of muscle off the sand as to not miss any parts that could go to waste. His hunger-crazed head flew back in laughter. Satisfied, he limped away; searching for his parents in hopes that they, too, could eat the food he found.
