re-entry

So, I am back! The weekend was everything i needed. Lots of rest (10.5 hours one night!) great food, excellent conversation... seriously, it was like group therapy.

We went to their family's cabin on sat/sun. its this gorgeous rustic house with like 20 beds in it on a golf course not too far from a lake. 'heaven' is all i can say. i took a nap on the lawn and the sun felt so good i could have died there.

we hit up some super amazing hot springs that is actually a pool with natural 90 degree water in it. we went back and forth from the cool to the hot pool and i swear i left all my stress and anxiety right there in the hot springs. sublime.

we grabbed dinner in Banff on the way back. we saw a black bear on the way in and a brown bear on the way out tons of deer and rams with their patchy fur and crazy horns.

Eli and Ida are so good just crusing around with everyone...really great kids to be sure.

Then we got Thi-Thi subs (a calgary tradition), dessert at Earls, pedicures, a late-night movie with Jessica's awesome mom and sister. We stayed up late putting together my blurb books. i had to make mine exactly like jessica's because everything she touches turns out so rad.
{getting pedicures. do i look relaxed?}

Then the morning I left i went to her lady that 'THREADED' my eyebrows! Have you ever had that done? it's super awesome, so much better than the dark BOLD eyebrow that my crazy lady likes to give me telling me it is the trend right now. but i seriously look/feel like a man. too dark, too bold. this lady gave me a really pretty arch and i love them. she told me to get them done every 2 weeks which is hilarious because it had been 3 months since i had them done last. it was a bit scary and overdue but she just cleaned it all up. no redness at all. so awesome.

And then it was time to go, all too soon. my mom asked me if i missed the kids and i was like, um, sure! cuz honestly, i love them but didn't really miss them, isn't that terrible?? . i guess i was just needing to enjoy every moment away as our house can be pretty intense and busy busy busy. mostly our own doing but intense nonetheless.

So, now i am re-entering the home's atmosphere. i think you always feel the burn, don't ya? The first day is the hardest, today is much better.

Yesterday, as i brought everyone in from picking up penny from preschool, Penny picked up my 3lb hand weight that i left out from my workout while she was gone and lifted it up over her head and just as i was saying, "PENNY don't throw the weight!" she dropped it SMACK down on simon's foot. he it the floor screaming.

there was blood dripping and his toe was swelling fast, crazy black and blue. i called doug in from the garage and right then sophie got home so we left penny with her and took simon to the hospital. it looked so disfigured! like cranked and twisted to the side, like his toe and a left corner in it! I was sure they were going to have to SET it or something!

So we got xrays that revealed no fracture. mostly because the bones are the size of pin dots and they are virtually impossible to break! hahaha. and so they gave him a foot bath, some tylenol and a few bandaids with neosporin on it. we were in and out in about an hour and a half.

The poor kid is limping around with it in the air. so so tender!

So, FYI to all of you out there. do not go to the hospital for a toe.

{gummy worms for after every step of the process}

anyway, that was my re-entry. we are all doing well now though. and Doug did a fabulous job while i was gone. last night owen even asked if Doug could tuck him in instead.....whaaaaaat??

Penny is going to sit on her "singing" potty and she just said, MoM...mooooom....hey, Emily! i need some help!!

I have tons more pics. will get them up soon.

  4. When I was 7 my brother dropped a weight on my big toe (not sure how many pounds)and I had to go to the ER. They removed my toe nail and gave me several shots in my toe. Luckily he has little baby toes.

    btw...I wouldn't miss my kids either. i don't think it's bad to say.
