our first day of summer

Yes, we are officially out of school today. It's summer!

And I am taking control with myjobchart.com.

I have tried a couple of online job charts to organize and motivate kids. Particularly Owen, the digital kid, and this one is the best. Well, it worked yesterday. we will see how it goes the rest of this week.

Anyway, it's free and i picked 6 things i want him to get done in the morning and set a point value to each of them. make bed, clean room, practice piano, read scriptures, say prayer (must be LDS because those are pre-set). Then i set a bunch of extra jobs one of them being: Get jobs done by 10am. 50 points for that one. Then you can set rewards. video games and computer are biggies for him and really i don't mind if he plays everyday i just want him to work first.

And then we can plan fun afternoon stuff so we get that magical combo of work/play that sounds really wonderful when people like design mom talk about but I have yet to pull off. Maybe this is my summer.

Also, on Saturday, we met up with Andria and Cicely Salatino (good friends from my Auburn Days) and their families at Redondo Beach. Andria married Nathan Giguiere (high school sweethearts??) i can't remember if they dated in highschool, but we were all in the same ward together growing up.

It was SO FUN to see them! We chatted and chatted about families and jobs and kids and lives. The kids played and played and played.

I told them to do something 'cool'. this, apparently, is owen's idea of cool.

sophie, marissa, and penny.
we were totally the white trash family this day.
Penny was in nothing but a pull up the entire time.
heading home

I put this photo up because sophie told me this awesome green ombre gap scarf i scored at a yard sale (for 2.50!) i passed while on a walk saturday morning looks weird. She called it SHREK-NECK! hahahaha. it does NOT look like shrek-neck, does it??
