Best idea ever

I've been grumpy about the new year. feeling behind, feeling like i can't keep all the balls in the air. very overwhelmed. I definitely have some focus points for 2011, but i LOVE this idea even more. I just copied and pasted her whole post cause it's so good dang good.

I think i'll take the weekend and figure out what my non-goals are. Welcome 2011!

The NON-GOALS via Design Crush

What is it about the new year that makes us take stock of our lives and ourselves? Time inevitably moves forward no matter what we do, but there’s just something about throwing the old calendar out and starting the new that makes us all take a closer look. After making my yearly goals (not resolutions) I found myself reading Erin‘s post about the exact opposite – non-goals. And I started thinking about the things that I manage to accomplish fairly well and would hate to change about myself.
  1. Keep finding amazing friends. You have a knack for knowing who you’re going to gel with immediately.
  2. Keep putting family first. They’re always there for you in the end.
  3. Keep having a soft spot for animals. They need you just as much as you need them.
  4. Keep up with the mad organization skills. They always pay off.
  5. Keep on learning, even from the most down and out circumstances. Life is a series of lessons.
  6. Keep trusting. (Maybe just listen to your gut a little more this year.)
  7. Keep taking risks. Even when they seem like safe bets to others.
  8. Keep taking naps. You’re really, really good at them.
  9. Keep staying true to yourself.
  10. Keep not settling. You’ll only regret it if you do.
Awesome Right? Happy Weekend Everyone!

  1. One thing I try to do (which it looks likes she is doing on her list) is make the list positive. Like for example, instead of saying "Don't drink diet coke", I'll say "Drink more water". Who needs the don'ts. It's true you can work on those anytime. This year my goal is just to continue forward. Don't think I made too many big ones.

  2. This year I haven't even thought about any goals like bettering myself. All I am hoping and telling myself is that it is going to be a better year in general. Staying positive about the new year and not thinking about the things I am not doing. Does that make sense? Happy New Year Emily! Miss you!

  3. I totally get it, Renee! Beth sounds the same. Just keep on moving, stay positive and don't get all worked up about what your not doing and, most importantly, recognizing all the great stuff we're already doing. Cause we're all pretty awesome if i say so myself. :)
