She went and turned 2 on me.
Laboring with her is one of my most exciting memories. We didn't know if she was a boy or a girl and we didn't know when she was coming. I woke up at 1 to time contractions and watched the movie ONCE. I LOVE that movie. It's a great movie and i love it even more because i can associate it with my Penny.
Around 5:30am we dropped the kids with our neighbors downstairs and headed to the hospital.
I usually skip all the gory stuff (like puking in the admitting office and other unmentionables) when i float back to good memories.
I think we all do. Otherwise we'd never go back to have more.
But then she came. And i'll never forget Doug's face as he said, "It's a GIRL!"
I was so shocked. I was certain it was a boy. But she was a girl and she was fat and pink and we named her Penny.
I watched JUNO in the hospital the night Penny had to be admitted to the NICU. Doug had gone home to take care of the kids, my mom wasn't there yet and so i was alone. I laid there in my hospital bed without my baby and watched Juno lay there in a hospital bed without hers.
And i cried and cried. I LOVE that movie, too.
But of course it all turned out just fine. And now Penny is 2. And she's spunky and funny and crazy sometimes. She reminds us of Sophie and it's just how we like our girls.
She has changed our world.
We love you, little pie.
I told ya she was fat and pink!
Big Girl at 2
Can you tell what she's saying? Her favorite word, now that she's 2.
MINE!

I remember when she came into the world, too. We were all so crazy with anticipation wondering if she was a boy or a girl. Oh Penny. She is perfect and we love her.
