I think whatever your interpretation of it is is just great.
For me it's going to come down to really determining the NEEDs vs. the WANTS.
NEEDS:
- groceries
- household like TP, paper towels, etc.
- make up. but only when i'm out and not when i'm just bored.
- Girls night out.
- Brooke's bday
- New bag for spring. This one is pretty cute in person.
- New clothes for church. this one i do kinda need but so i might check out crossroads or just deal with what i've got.
- New workout clothes for my new gym membership (to be purchased today) and not just any workout clothes, Lululemon workout clothes. they're the best.
- new lamp and side table in my room.
- Toy purge but new toys to replace the old mismatched crap we have right now. I started this awhile ago so i'm about half way through.
- a babysitter EVERY friday while i go to dinner and the movies. That's what i've done this past month and i figure i can cut that back by at LEAST half. or when i do go, I probably don't need dinner AND popcorn and a massive diet coke. i just want that stuff.
- finish the family room with all the cute detaily stuff i'm not good at.
So, i'll hit the park instead of going to target or ikea or wherever. Make yummier food at home so we don't eat out as much, say no to target toys. try to say no to pretzels at the mall, wait what am i doing in the mall? I'm on a spending hiatus!!
I'm sure there are plenty more but Simon sounds like he just woke up.
I'd love to hear more of your thoughts.

ahahh!!!! thanks for including my birthday. hehe.
ReplyDeleteya, i could clean up too. it is hard with the baby body/size thing cause i'm not really fitting into much so maybe some things are needed.
good thing the temple is free :)
ooooh...and the library (although its not free for me with my book destroying record and late fees). by the way, heard the book based on sandra bullock football movie is really good, lots meatier.
ReplyDeletei think i need to purge myself of tv.
you can still do your living room, just yard sale it and revamp
Sounds great. I'm actually excited to get started!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea! I don't know if I will be as official as you as far as start and end dates. But Adam and I are taking a huge trip to Cape Cod this summer and so we have been watching pennies all year so far. But between this and another post I read via Lyndsay's blog, I am definitely in the mood to simplify. And yes, let's do lots of FREE play dates.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the clothes- THANKS! My favorite is the green hat with ears. We're big hat fans, what with Jack being so bald and all. Good luck with the saving spree!
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, my life is, has been, and probably will always be a spending hiatus. I think I need a few months of the spending spree side of it. Might loosen me up. I really shouldn't call and report a purchase of "socks for the kids" to Dave so he can add it to the budget. Yikes.....I know.
ReplyDeleteI have been on a spending hiatus for a while now. You know the story. Can't spend like I used too. I think it has humbled me a bit actually.
