spring break

It's the first day of spring break and it's kinda nice. actually, i will have 3 weeks of spring break because the preschool and the school district are not on the same school schedule yet so i get to stretch it out this year.  first a week off for the big kids then 2 weeks off for the littles.

Owen had his friend, chris, over this morning and now he is at baylen's for the rest of the day and will probably sleep over and sophie went to universal with some friends and texted me to see if she could sleep at her friends house tonight.  sometimes i love it when both big kids are away. It feels like we practically have no kids at all.  put the littles down early and, what, like watch a show together?  hahahaha that never ever ever ever happens.

we shall see how it goes.  otherwise, maybe we will hit disneyland mid week and try to use the passes like the locals must use them. mid week.

and then even though it's a little chilly, i feel like we will have to hit the beach sometime.  seems ridiculous not too.

Owen came home last week with a few awards in his backpack.  principal's log, special achievement in academics and student of the month. BAM all in one week. we hung them on the wall and that night he scribbled some username and password on his student of the month certificate.  he needed a piece of paper and couldn't find one?  haha.  that's so me, sadly. when we moved into this house I remember finding a box of kids books in the garage and opened the cover and i had written an address and directions to someplace in utah in the front cover. what. is. that?? what a weird quirk.

also, Sophie went to spring fling last weekend and actually won spring fling sophomore princess!!! she got a cute little crown and everything. we thought she was going to win by default because the other two girls were at a competition or something and she was going to be the only one there but it turns out one other girl showed up and sophie won anyway. wahoo!  cute girl.  

All i have from spring fling are her instagram photos. there is a super cute pic the school took but i can't find it in her messy teenager room.  messy teenager used to make sense to my brain and now it makes me crazy!  I'm sure my mom never ever thought she'd hear that. 

Took the littles to the dentist. simons first time and he was a total champ.  did everything by himself. got up in all the chairs and opened his mouth and waited for someone to do something to it.  this first pic is the two of them dancing in the waiting room.

 So saturday i decided to try and get a last minute babysitter and go to the temple.  I made a goal to go every month in 2013 and because spring break is the rest of the month i felt like it was a good idea to go on saturday.  so i scheduled a babysitter for 5:30 and as she shows up at my house, i walked over to pick up simon from rachel's house and brandon tells me he thinks it's closed but maybe not, he's not sure, etc.  so i call down there and the last session of the night was at 5:30.  i totally missed it. ugh!  but my babysitter was there already playing with penny so i dressed up and took myself to sweetsalt where there was a big group gathered and eating and prepping for the LA marathon on sunday. they were all running for the charity pablove which support finding a cure for childhood cancer. one runner stood up and said that his best friends 3 year old died 10 days ago and he was running for him.  i was all chocked up listening to this group!! i wanted to go run with them!!  not really, but you know.

anyway so i ate something delicious and then went to the movies by myself. it's kinda awesome. doug was busy at some art thing with his crazy friend, eric but i had a great time all by myself.  i truly wish i had been able to get to the temple, but this was a close second.

also, penny gets sad when either of us have to leave so we took this photo and texted it to the babysitter just in case she got sad while i was gone.  looking at it makes her feel better, which is a pretty cute and truly why we have so many photos of penny and doug together.
