cage

This is by far the coolest thing Doug has done lately.

Yesterday he went with his friend, Shawn, to san diego to shoot a shark cage.  The kind you climb into and the stir up some bait in the water and wait to see who comes hungry.  Sounds a little freaky, right???

Well, i guess they chummed for 2 hours and only one little guy, a 4 ft blue shark, came looking for some grub. They were out really, really far where the ocean floor is 1500 feet down so everything around was dark blue water.

Doug took pictures for Shawn (whose ears wouldnt let him go deeper than a few feet down) and there was the guide behind him watching for sharks and then another guy also shooting and got these beauties of Doug.

Sophie asked where he was yesterday and when i told her he was in san diego in a shark cage shooting sharks all she had to say was, "of course he is."  Not sure what that means, but i thought it was a funny response.

And then they drove back last night.  crazy. and crazy beautiful.

otherwise, we are all systems go for christmas.  christmas eve at our house with the swierengas and christmas day at theirs.  maybe a hike and definitely a MOVIE.  i love going to the movies on Christmas day. plus, i think all ninos are old enough to go now.  :)

Penny and simon are back in school from being sick again. they are crazy and funny and intense.  funny how quickly i got used to my 3 hour chunk of freedom.  i couldn't remember how to get  anything done with 2 kids in tow for 5 days straight. I was really unproductive, actually.   hahaha

Owen has his holiday program tomorrow, I CAN'T wait to see his dance. they are always so funny.  He finished the lord of the rings movies this weekend. loved it.  pretended not to be too freaked out, but he liked it.  i like aragorn and the battle at helms deep.  that's about all i remember from those movies.

Sophie is taking finals this week.  We met with her counselor at school to talk about her 'path to college' and it was super overwhelming. good, but boy it's coming fast.  I just figured she's take tests and get into whichever BYU and then figure out what she wants to do from there, but honestly we can do so much more from now until graduation. he had a lot of really good suggestions and i feel like we need to help her figure out what she wants to study/do/be, like, today!!

also, can't wait to see my family and cousins during new years and then 2013.....here. it. comes!

p.s. penny and chloe made a fort this afternoon under the coffee table by the christmas tree.  penny decided she wanted to sleep in the fort so she went and curled up under the coffee table and went to sleep.  easiest night time routine ever!

  1. Those are awesome pics! I love Sophie's response, and I might add "why wouldn't he be."
p.s. Glad Penny likes sleeping under tables. That may be her best option when we're all at moms. Can't wait!!
