big ole christmas day

First we had the maggy haves sing. Penny was happy and singing and simon was crying and snuggled into his teacher the whole time.  i guess as soon as he saw doug he was over the performance part of it. very cute, though. love the school.  feel lucky to be there. 

then ALYSSA came over and picked up sophie so we chatted and laughed and she and simon became BFF's.  she is a total baby whisperer and wins over all toddlers. ADORE her.  She's headed on a mission to Minnesota in February.  So exited for her.

The rest of her family dropped sophie off later that night and so i got to yap it up with Jackie, one of my favorite moms of all time.  

then christmas eve started with ice skating with the swierengas and coiros in pasadena and then lunch at a place called slaw dogs.  LISTEN TO WHAT I ORDERED

LA Street Dog, you know the one, wrapped in bacon with peppers and onions and probably pico de gallo. then doug and I ordered Kimchi fries.  What are kimchi fries you ask??   Get this: Sweet potato fries, Kimchi (which is spicy stewed cabbage, right?) then bacon and a fried egg on top.  there was probably a sauce but i can't remember it.  HOLY CRAP, it was so good.  shockingly good. 

then we had christmas eve dinner over here with the swierengas, went caroling to a few houses on our street and then went to their house for dessert and the nativity story.  Good, good times.  we love our neighbors. 

then doug and i put the kids to bed, hauled out the christmas loot and started wrapping.  we watched the Hurt Locker (like, the farthest thing from a christmas movie, but i hadn't seen it.) while we wrapped and finished just about when it ended. 

went to sleep about 2 and 5:45 i woke up in a cold sweat trying to figure out if i was going to throw up or not.  I didn't. but i was cursing those delicious KIMCHI fries all day! at 6:07 the kids were up.  i made them come back at 6:30 and then we went out and had a great morning. sadly, i was pretty sick so it kinda wrecked our christmas day plans.  Instead, we wallowed in christmas mess, ate candy and watched nacho libre, pitch perfect, prom and pirates of the carribbean all day long.  

one for the books.
