Yesterday was hilarious.
It was Penny's first day of school and the first time at 9am. (last year she went from 1-4, a totally different ball game considering we have 2 others with a morning routine.)
So we got up early and got dressed, did her hair in 'one pony in the back' instead of her old favorite 2 braids, thank you very much, and then made her lunch. we were talking about her new teachers and her new classroom and all the kids she would get to see, oh boy, she was excited!!
So after dragging owen out of bed and getting him off to school, we head over to preschool with penny.
as i turn the corner onto the street, i knew instantly, i had it wrong. we were early, yes, but this was a veritable ghost town!! crap, crap. wait, suddenly i remember something about a family picnic?!? So I drop off doug, who goes in to repair a few last minute things in the classrooms (he's like an MHS handyman. haha) and texts me that school doesn't start until tuesday but the family picnic is from 4-6 so we can come back then.
hahahahahahaha!!
except penny didn't think it was so funny. Ummmmm, let's just say she was sad. She kind of scares me when she gets that sad/mad gutteral cry/scream going on. It was very tragic, actually. So we went around the block and got gas while we were waiting for doug. she was wailing and crying and screaming the whole time. So, i went inside and got her some candy. and guess what? it worked. Pink candy did the trick and we made it home in one piece.
So we went back the picnic last night and Owen came with us. Sophie was at the boys' water polo match at her school. charlie deakins from encino was playing her high school team. not by himself, of course, but their schools faced off so she went there instead. so cute.
Anyway, Jackie B from kung fu panda and nacho libre and school of rock was there. his kids go to our preschool, so i told owen that he was at the picnic. (you know who i'm talking about whe i say Jackie B, right?) Owen was super excited so we looked around but couldnt see him. about 20 minutes later, i saw him go into pennys classroom with his little boy so i found owen across the playground and said, "he just went into the square room!"
Owen took off running across the whole playground, stopped about 10 feet before the classroom door, scratched his bizzy head a little and then casually walked in.
I was dying to find out what was going on but i stayed out. When he came running out, I was like, Owen what happened?? did you talk to him?
"yeah, we talked about the movies."
What? what do you mean? did you say hi first or did he say hi first?
"I walked in and said HI, i really liked kung fu panda 2. then he said, have you seen me in any other movies? and i said, Yeah, um.... Nacho Libre, school of rock.... and then we just talked about the movies. "
Hahaha! He was so cute and so excited and said he thought his friends were going to be jealous when he told them at school.
That kid is scared of everything and nothing at the same time. Funny boy.
SORRY, THIS IS TURNING INTO A VERY POST!
And then this is the big one for sophie.
If that wrinkly neck photo from yesterday didn't make me feel old (it does), this video surely will (it really does).
Doug took her out in a little yellow VW 'herbie' that he rented while his car in getting fixed. It's such a sophie car!
Anytime we're driving and having a conversation, any kind of conversation (serious, hilarious, boring, whatever) she'll call 'herbie' mid-sentence.
"The stupid girls on the volleyball herbie team are so lame. they...." you get the idea. Anyway, she about flipped when she saw it in front of our house so doug took her driving.
She absolutely can not wait to drive. oh my.
p.s. I can't wait to see your ugly photos!! Come on, don't be shy!

ReplyDeleteDRIVING!!!! WHAT??!! I can't handle this!
ReplyDeleteAlso, did I tell u about when I saw Jackie B at the mall (Burbank Mall, Old Navy of all places). I swear I've never seen any celeb more awesome with his fans. Some boys O's age were talking to him and he was sooo cool w/ them. I could help myself and just stopped and was smiling at how cute he was with the boys. He totally looked up at me smiling at him (probably thought I was a crazy stalker or something), but he smiled back. It was adorable and so gracious. Very cool. And obviously he was also very cool to Adam on set. Anyway - there's my Jackie B story.
Penny looks so cute! I wish she and Audrey could play sometime soon.
Beth, thats so awesome! I really love nice celebs. and we will have to figure out a day to play once everyone is used to the routine. this afternoon was kinda rough for the penster.
ReplyDeleteAnd Brooke!! just use your camera! it really doesn't matter. perrrrrrfect for killing time at scouts.
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute story about O. Glad Penny was candied off the ledge and Sophie looks so natural behind the wheel! So awesome, and bonus, she has the world's best driving teacher.
ReplyDeletePromise I will work on the ugly photo tomorrow. Tried today and whimped out, I couldn't believe how ugly it was. I will put on my brave pants tomorrow and send it your way.
Yes, kelly!! I won't post it if you don't want me to but send it to me anyway and then I'll call you and we can laugh until we wet our pants...puh-leez???
