Sometimes I get really nauseated living in such a superficial society, especially here in LA. The importance of physical beauty is so crammed down our throats at every turn, it makes me wanna be ugly and proud of it.
Acutally, it makes me want to join Mothers Without Boarders or something. Sew some dresses for orphans, help dig a well, build a habitat for humanity home or SOMETHING...ANYTHING with substance!! I will do those things someday, i swear. I want to go to Africa and take my kids with me and let them see a different perspective.
But for now, who am i kidding? I still have babies.
So, today (sunday) we had an Ugly Contest and it was FUNNY! we each took a turn taking a photo (without the others seeing) of the ugliest face we could possibly make and submitted it to the contest. And by that i mean we passed the phone to the next person. Then we scrolled through them and picked a winner.
My family begged me not to post them. especially mine. they are really embarrassed by how ugly my photos are. but i really don't care if all 10 people reading this blog think i'm ugly. WHO CARES??? There's no way Sophie would let me post hers. And i get it, she's a teenager. They were reallly good though, just so you know!
Participants: Owen, Baylen, Sophie and Me. Here goes....Brace yourself.
Round 1
{this is exceptionally ugly and, i think, the overall winner. Especially of the wrinkly/flabby neck bracket of the Ugly Contest. Although, the hair and make up contribute significantly to this winning look.}
Round 2
Doug is just a big, fat chicken.
(you see a little soph in the back though...go girl!)
If you want to join the ugly revolution, submit your photos to ebchamberlain(at) gmail (dot) com and I'll post next Monday!
If not, that's ok too. Not everyone wants a jewel like the one of me above floating around the interwebs.

ReplyDeleteOne of the ugliest pictures of me is right after one of my c-sections. It's pretty bad. But I guess it doens't count if it's real-life stuff. I guess you just have to make the face on your phone. The girls and I will get busy making ugly faces!
