Can it be? Is simon really turning 2 today???? He is!
2 years ago today, Doug drove me to the hospital at 6 am to be induced. We high-fived at the entrance and i walked up to the maternity ward alone, carrying my own bags. I still remember the nurses reaction. What? No Entourage?? Where are all your special pillows? Please tell me SOMEone is coming to have this baby with you?
And yes, Doug did come after the other 3 were up and fed and sent to school and taken to the babysitter. And then Simon came and he was beautiful and then life shifted into hyperspeed and hasn't stopped.
This is an entry from when Simon was 2 weeks old.
Over the past few weeks I've discovered that leaving Simon to sleep on my bed is NOT an option. This is what happens. Penny realizes that I'm not carrying him with me and b-lines it for my room where she climbs up on the bed and either grabs his face, pokes his eyes, smoooshes the binky really hard into his mouth or just gives him a good old fashioned whack on the head. I'm telling ya, we've had a rough few days. Most of these crimes against the baby don't actually happen because I'm pretty quick to thwart her evil plans.
However, today while I was talking to my friend Yvonne I got that feeling that Penny was up to something.
When i got back there she was laying on top of Simon coloring on his head with a marker.
I was very relieved to see that it was a color wonder marker, but still!!
So now Penny has learned that Simon will fight back in a major way! About 5 times a day he'll just walk over to her and push her down for no reason at all. a little retribution, i guess.
