we got into this conversation about how she was student of the month every single year, sometimes twice in elementary school but not once in middle school. she gets straight A's, is a nice, respectful kid but not once in all three years has she been the Student of the Month.
Then I told her about a fellow mom that i talked to at the elementary school and she had to ask her middle school sons teacher about the same thing and the next month he was student of the month. clearly its a bit random.
Anyway, so we chatted about some other things and then i dropped her off at school.
When she got home that afternoon she told me that she was called to the vice principles office because she earned student of the month! hahahaha. the last month of her last year of middle school.
So in Wednesday i got to go to breakfast at school with sophie and listen to her teacher gush for a few minutes about how great sophie is. actually, the teacher that nominated her wasn't there but her math teacher was so she gushed about her. As did the VP who said sophie was so gracious and had the biggest smile when she told her about the award, it just made her day.
I totally was NOT tearing up, if any of you were wondering. I never do when i see my kids being awesome.
