it helps to blog more than once a week.

ok, where on earth did last week go?
here are the highlights:
  • penny had a meltdown the first day of preschool. i was there with her the whole time but she didn't like that i had to sit in the mom chairs and do work instead of get down on the carpet and play with her. all the mom's were feeling sorry for me until each of the other children took their turn. haha. The other two days went just great although i am sure i will be there all this week too.
  • first day
  • the rows of mamas. can you see her over there at the playdough table

  • Sophie had an amazing basketball game on thursday night. she babysat for us for like 45 minutes prior to the game so we could go grab sushi with Kat (BFF director) and her husband Rhys and then they came up to the game with us. sophie had a major cheering section. Their little girl stayed with our kids so when we left sophie was holding Simon on her hip and stirring something for everyone to eat for dinner and the other three were making lots of noise in the family room. She's a rock star. then she scored 2 baskets in her game and they won 28 to 6. Super fun night.
this is from a choir competition that i missed on saturday by about 10 min.
she said her school did really well
  • On saturday, Owen's best buddy, Baylen was baptized. They asked Owen to give a little talk on his own baptism and it was so great. he basically wrote it himself and got up there, not nervous at all and gave his schpeel. it was AWESOME. i never would have done that as a kid. not in a million years!
three amigos. which one is ned nederlander?
luke is next to be baptized. april, maybe?
  • Doug worked and a really fun project on saturday. Le Franc is hosting the OSCARS and he asked doug to come film the taping of the opener. (does that make any sense? his footage won't be used for the oscars but someother Le Franc-y purpose.) he got to meet the other host, Anne H. Said it was really intersting.
  • And lastly, the superbowl. we didn't throw a party at our house but we did eat a ton. i made rhys roast. something doug ate while working on a BFF edit and he gave me the secret recipe during sushi. mine was totally mediocre and i was reminded not to forget about signing up for cooking classes.
  • but i did make a peach cobbler from this recipe. If anyone made it to the end of this post, you should bookmark barefoot and baking. it is my sister's really good childhood friend and now she is an amazing cook with really pretty photos. great combo. anyway this cobbler was so so easy! right up my alley. and amazing with vanilla ice cream.
phew!
