The Back to the Future Project

Hi All,

just checking in. We are alive and well. sort of. currently, i am eating a huge bag of blue corn tortilla chips and a diet dr. pepper. something tells me i won't be well a little later on. p.s. why are blue corn tortilla chips so much better than the regular kind?

Penny, as of yesterday, is now going to preschool on her own. I LOVED watching the process, the change in her is quite significant. she isn't freaked out when i leave because she learned to trust me when i said i was coming back. and we did it a little bit at a time. super baby steps over 9 days and now she is confident and happy being with everyone at school. if she starts to feel sad or like she is missing me, she can write me a letter. they write down everything she says word for word. it's very cute. doug helped her write one this morning when i left to take owen to school. it had about 7 points and they all were some version of I miss you, please come back. she was so excited to give it to me when i got home.

Simon is crankier than ever. he seems a little PO'd with life right now. which is strange coming from the happy one. he has also expanded his vocabulary. among the new ones are
  • Yo yo gabba
  • push
  • stuck
  • stop
  • stupid
  • stupid mama (cranky, i tell ya!)
  • he says yeah or yup to all questions unless it's a NO
  • mine
  • baby
  • Owen
  • that one
This is Rachel our babysitter. she has been miracle worker with penny and simon, truly the only one that could watch both of them especially when they were smaller. we love her and now that penny is going on her own to school we don't need her anymore, which is a good thing because she is due with her OWN baby in the next 2 weeks. (look how tiny she is!)

And LASTLY...Love this photo idea found via A Cup of Jo. Photographer Irina Werning posts people re-creating their childhood photos.
