Today didn't feel much like a holiday. Babies were sick yesterday so we missed a trip to the huntington library with Beth. Although they were much MUCH better today so i was sad to have missed it.
Anyway, Sophie went to the Kekauoha's, Owen to Baylen's and doug was working. All this makes for a day like all my other days. Me and the babies at home. usually cleaning. totally sick of cleaning, btw.
Then Simon decided to climb into the bottom of our Phil and Ted's stoller. its decidely unbalanced and it fell right over on him. So, i ran outside, picked him up and tried to console him. after a while it seemed like there might be something more going on because i just couldn't help him stop crying.
Then i saw his finger and the tiny square fingernail barely hanging onto the corner of his nail bed. ouch. all bloody and painful. fingernail wounds KILL, right?
anyway, i tried to tug on it a little to see if it would just pop out but it didnt so we wrapped it, gave him some pain reliever and put him down for a nap.
this afternoon we went to the bookstore and the park and by the time we got home his bandages were long gone and his nail was looking nasty. fearing infection, i went to clean it and since he was already crying like a banshee, i quickly took another tug. No go.
one more harder tug and the whole nail came free leaving the soft, dark pink nail bed totally exposed. oh boy was he sad!! so i cleaned it, put neosporin, a bandaid and then medical tape and then another to make sure it doesn't come off again. more meds and a little yo gabba gabba and he seems to be doing ok.
oh, what a day.
looking forward to tomorrow. another of the same except the organizers are coming for their consult! wish me luck!

Little Miss Penny:

Ugh.... this post gave me the heebie geebies (is that how you spell it??). Ouch! Poor Simon. YAY for organizers. Will I see you at dance class this week? Think you might bring Penny to check it out again?
ReplyDeleteOh, organizers! Now that sounds like something I'm very interested in . . . I like to organize myself. So, next time I see your head popping over Rachel's fence, I will be asking for a full report!
ReplyDeletePoor, poor Simon! And actually, poor, poor you!!!! That sucks to have to deal with that today!
That's right, Sarah! We were talking about this before thanksgiving. I've made tons of progress since then on my own, but paperwork needs the big guns. If these guys are too expensive I'll be calling you and beth to come de-pile my piles!
ReplyDeleteOuch! Poor little guy...Poor mama. I remember I cut Ashlyn's nail too short one time and it bled and bled and bled. I can't imagine the whole nail coming off. Hope it heals up quickly.
ReplyDeleteaawww poor simon. that just makes my stomache hurt...poor mama...
