So, we barely made it and already have some highs and lows. But today is Friday, Owen has 2 friends coming over to play video games on the first video game friday of the year, sophie is going to a birthday party sleep over and I am going to see 'The HELP'. Cannot wait! (If any of you want to come to the movie tonight, just text me and we can arrage.)
Doug finally made it back last night from NY. He was shooting a Microsoft commercial, interestingly enough. It's interesting because I remember before we decided to go to AFI (like 11 years ago!), we were trying to figure out what to do with our lives and his career and actually sent an application to the Microsoft Audio/Visual Department?? My brother in Law, Brett, works at Microsoft and we thought it was a genius idea to move up to Seattle and have a steady job working for one of the worlds most successful companies. Right? Doesn't that sound amazing?
Well, as you know, it just didn't work out for us that way. And that's ok, except for the part about not living by my sister. I really miss living by family.
So, all of you out there with parents or siblings close by, don't take it for granted! It's a pretty special thing.
Anyway, while Doug was in NY there was a screening of "Life Happens" so he got to go. Rhys was there for Kat who is a big ole 9 months pregnant!
On Tuesday night I got this text:
we just ate an epic italian meal at anthony' restaurant:
whole fried whiting.
(which is a fish with eyes and tail, apparently?)
octopus w/celery and potatoes
sardines stuffed w/bread crumbs pine nuts and raisins.
smoked salmon w/fennel and arugala.
zucchini flowers stuffed w/ricotta and smoked mozzarella.
spicy shellfish ragu w/shrimp and clams mussels.
pounded filet. seared. served on a bed of lettuce and diced peppers.
fresh tomatoes/cucumber grilled onions/ grilled corn.
Turned down the giant roasted Bronzino.(another fish) it was just too much food.
Dessert was poached peaches and a yogurt gelato.
This is Anthony's father and a very happy Doug (below) Their family owns a very authentic italian restaurant in NY called Noodle Pudding.
Anthony was one of the main contacts on the Italy Project.
Doug said it was absolutely amazing.
Probably not as good as my frozen Jenny-o Turkey burgers the other night, so maybe we will just keep that meal our little secret. We wouldn't want him to feel bad.

Little Miss Penny:

There are some gems in this post that are cracking me up. I think some Jenny-o turkey patties are in MY future...
