We have definitely been taking things slow around here. so slow i am going crazy, actually.
Doug has been very sleepy and (sadly) busy with work things but we're definitly getting back to normal. It's good to have him home. We had the missionaries and our friend whit over on sunday for tacos. they were so ridiculously good. the secret is vallarta. the mexican market not too far from us. we are getting taco night down so if you ever want to come and try some just lemme know! I made the pioneer woman's tres leches cake and it was pretty incredible if you like tres leches.
i took off to the beach on saturday with the babies. everyone else was busy so we just jumped in the car and headed to point dume. (totally not up for paying for parking.)
It was busy so cruised the parking lot for a while looking for a space. i finally spotted someone leaving and as i sat and waited for them to pack in all their crap, i glanced at the car behind my space and realized it was my good friend Roxann MEANS! She and alexa and rebecca and a cousin had just parked and were headed out to the beach too!!
such a fun surprise. so we all went and hunkered down on the sand and chatted it up for a few hours. i loved seeing them. they live in AZ now and we got to see them during spring break but sophie missed out on beach camping with savannah this year. she missed savannah like crazy, especially during the summer.
Roxann is a rock star mom and commisserated with me about parenting teenagers and toddlers at the same time. it's really hard and not very common around these parts and had some good advice.
simon and penny were a mess, like they didn't know how to process an environment outside our walls and the car. hahaha.
simon was freakishly scared of the waves. he kept pointing out to the ocean and saying..."stop it... water. stop!"
penny was clingy but then warmed up to rebecca and played and played. we came home with a water bottle full of sand, water and 4 little sand crabs. penny mothered them with great care until they died like 2 hours later.
but we saw dolphins really close to the shore and both babies fell asleep on the way home and slept for another 2 hours. it was wicked.
i am headed out tomorrow to meet up with Mendi Abel and fam in oceanside. This mama needs a day off.
So, doug is ON duty. bring me the sand, the sun and let me sleep! haha..ha..zzzzzz.
