I made fish last night

I never cook fish at home but I love it, and the Mahi mahi from Trader Joe's was calling my name. That and too many other items at the store, apparently. As i was checking out the guy said,
"I think you picked one of everything here."

I guess it looked that way because as i shopped yesterday i broke 2 cardinal rules for cost and time efficient shopping.

1) I went hungry
2) I went without a meal plan and/or list.

So, i ended up with one of everything including the seasoned mahi mahi.

Boy, was it good. Owen even ate it.

I wound up cooking it on the stove top {the smelliest cooking method of all time.} And i only did that because i had some vegetables roasting in the oven and every one was hungry and everything seemed to be taking forever. At the last minute i threw some brussel sprouts into the veggie mix in the oven, the smelliest veggie available.

Interestingly, we discovered that fish and brussel sprouts don't really go together. Not really the point of this story, more of a 'note to self' for future reference.

anyway, as we were cleaning up, i put most of the dishes in our mini dishwasher and had all the pots and pans in the sink to be hand washed. As I flipped the disposal switch, the right side of the sink started filling up.

uh oh. I turned off the water and let everything settle. I tried it again. Same thing. and then the disposal stopped working.

So right now, i have a clogged sink, a broken disposal and very smelly, fishy pots and pans STILL sitting around my kitchen. (oh, then we made eggs this morning.)

What are the odds? The day i made two very stinky foods, my kitchen brakes. And the resident Mr. I-Can-fix-build-rewire-sew-cook-shoot-chop-saw-anything doesn't do plumbing. Looks like i'll be doing dishes in the bathtub until the plumber can come tomorrow.

On another note, sophie found out a boy that has been in the majority of her classes since she started middle school is Mormon. He saw her CTR ring and asked her if she was Mormon. She thought she saw his look-a-like at EFY this weekend, but it turned out to BE him. There aren't a lot of LDS kids in her school and it just really made an impact on her.

Well, i guess i'm off to the tub. wish me luck
